Why sellAring for App Developers?

In a nutshell, sellAring will generate more revenue for you, while helping you deliver a better user experience on your app. Our post-call display ads and our audio ads utilize the out-app model. This means users can engage with your app with zero interference. The ads play right before or right after a phone call, when the user is in attention mode. This is how SellAring ads have a higher conversion rate and an increased revenue potential for the app developer.


How do I implement sellAring using your SDK? What does it do to my app?

It’s easy! 1. Register at the sellAring site on the App Developer page. 2. Get your API key 3. Download the sellAring client SDK

Add sellAring’s ultra-lightweight standard JAR file to your Android app. When the app launches, the sellAring client leverages Android OS's AlarmManager framework to schedule server polling events at various points throughout the day. Audio ads are cached until play time, which is determined by the sellAring server.

The polling process does not require a persistent TCP/IP connection, background service, or much frequency. The total connection time is only a few seconds per day, meaning sellAring has no noticeable impact on battery life.


How do app developers make money?

SellAring’s suite of unique mobile advertising solutions includes 1. audio ads served during a phone call ring-back tone, and/or 2.  a full screen display ad, served at the end of a phone call (those formats are served alone or combined, based on the advertisers’ definitions.) Our out-app model delivers a high click through rate and an increased eCPM.
Since SellAring monetizes your entire installed base (and not just your active users as traditional in-app ad networks do), you earn significantly higher revenues.
If, for example, 100,000 people have downloaded your app, on average only 5% of them are using your app on a daily basis – and that translates to 5,000 users .
In other words, with all traditional in-app advertising methods, you would earn only per the 5,000 users who actively engage with your app, and the fill rate is calculated based on these 5,000 users.
At SellAring since we monetize all your installations, even a relatively low fill rate of 10% would represent monetization of 10,000 users: 100,000 X 10%= 10,000 (more than double than all traditional in-app advertising methods).
This is the major difference which makes your earnings with sellAring significantly higher.


Can I combine sellAring with other ad networks I use?

Of course! SellAring ads work side by side with other monetization methods. Since our ads are active outside the app, using additional in-app advertising methods is possible and can actually complement SellAring ads.


What’s your privacy policy?

We take privacy very seriously — we do not collect individual user data and certainly do not share it with unauthorized parties:

1. We do not crawl the user's phone device.

2. We do not access the content or Contacts of the device.

3. We do not keep the end user device IMEI, nor any other info.

4. We enable a quick & easy opt out of SellAring ads

Can a user opt out of sellAring ads?

This depends on you, the App Developer. If sellAring is included in the app as a mandatory component in your revenue model, a user can only opt out by uninstalling your app.

To emphasize - sellAring ads do NOT play and are totally removed from the end user device the moment the user uninstalls the app.

End users can opt-out by sending us (via our support page or email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) their device IMEI or MEID and request to opt-out.

For your privacy, we keep hashed information, so you can send us your IMEI/MEID as hashed value (you can use any free MD5 generator, like for example http://www.miraclesalad.com/webtools/md5.php).

Your IMEI/MEID can be found on your Android device, under Settings --> About Phone --> Status


How many audio ads will my users hear?

SellAring will play up to 2 audio ads per day to each user of your app.


Can I send ads and earn revenue from inactive users?

Yes! Once installed, sellAring works independently from your app and earns revenue even when the app is not in use.


Why aren't my old users receiving ads?

Users will only receive your ads (and drive revenue) when the version of your app they installed contains sellAring. To include your existing users, we suggest you push out an update and upgrade all of your users to a new version of your app that contains sellAring as part of the installation.


What type of advertisements will my users receive?

We have a variety of advertisers, but we promise that all ads in the sellAring system are “family friendly.”


Are there any costs?

There are no setup costs for registering and adding sellAring to your app.


How often do I get paid?

Your credit is shown in your account, and is credited immediately upon payment from the advertiser. SellAring performs monthly payment cycles for accounts with a minimum balance of $50.


Do I get paid on a CPM or CPC basis?

This depends on the advertiser’s campaign configuration. SellAring offers both pre-call (generally CPM-based audio plays) and post-call (generally CPC-based clicks) ads, so the advertiser can choose a preferred method.


If I’m unhappy with sellAring, can I easily disable it?

Yes, you can disable or pause it from running as a result of your app’s installation on the device. Please note: If other apps including sellAring happen to be installed on a particular device, sellAring will continue to run without providing you part of the revenue share.


What versions of Android OS are supported by sellAring?

SellAring is supported on Android versions 2.1 and up.
